CAST AI is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to build the intelligence layer on top of our battle-tested Kubernetes infrastructure. Our Cast Pilot team is creating AI assistants for Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure, answering thousands of questions monthly from hundreds of organizations. This is greenfield AI platform work on top of production infrastructure, with features shipping in 1 to 4 weeks.
๐ข About CAST AI
CAST AI is a cloud cost optimization platform that runs Kubernetes infrastructure autonomously, making thousands of cost-and-reliability decisions daily. We're now opening our platform up with a public, permission-aware MCP server, deeper connectivity across AWS, GCP, and Azure, and continuous improvements to make our agents smarter and more capable.
๐ฏ The Role
Your job is to make the interaction between platform engineers and AI assistants boringโreliably, securely, at production scale. Behind it sits an AI assistant that reasons over thousands of production Kubernetes clusters, a platform that safely exposes infrastructure to external AI clients, and quality pipelines that catch errors before customers do.
โ Key Responsibilities
Design and build systems behind our AI assistant: agent flows, context retrieval, and data connections for reasoning about live Kubernetes infrastructure
Build and evolve our public, permission-aware MCP server with curated tools, identity, audit, and safety gates
Develop and maintain cloud connectivity across AWS, GCP, and Azure
Write production Go services that interact with cloud provider APIs, Kubernetes control plane, and LLM APIs
Own features end-to-end: from design through implementation, testing, and production rollout
Production experience with Go is strongly preferred; candidates without Go should demonstrate strong systems programming skills
Experience building or operating large-scale SaaS platforms in production
Solid understanding of Kubernetes, including autoscaling, scheduling, and networking concepts
You've personally driven a complex project end-to-end
Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows
Experience with observability tooling in production
CI/CD and DevOps practices experience
Strong English skills, both verbal and written
Startup mindset: adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity
โญ Desirable Experience
Built agentic systems that shipped: MCP servers/clients, agent gateways, RAG pipelines, evaluation frameworks
Deep hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, with real understanding of IAM, compute, networking, and APIs
Experience with LLM application quality: evaluations, prompt engineering at scale, latency and cost optimization
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 / OIDC and multi-tenant authorization design
Deep knowledge of EKS, GKE, or AKS internals
Kubernetes or cloud-native OSS contributions
๐ Benefits
Competitive salary (โฌ6,500 to โฌ9,000 gross, depending on experience)
Work on genuinely new problems in production MCP platforms and AI assistants
