Job Overview

Roam is an Applied AI lab building World Models for highly retentive 3D environments. We're lifting models from the 2D plane of pixels into the full dimensionality of interactive worlds. Our work spans everything required to perceive, reason about, and create in 3D, with applications across simulation, design, and play. Our first focus is gaming: 3D environment generation and understanding for interactive entertainment, technology that enables millions of people to explore, create, and share highly engaging worlds together.

About the Role

You’ll work at the intersection of applied AI and large-scale platform engineering. Your focus will be on building and owning the core infrastructure, platforms, and toolchains that power our AI-driven generation tools. Our current engineering focus spans:

• Architect and automate self-serve developer platforms: build pipelines for LLM‑powered game generation, asset integration, and production-ready toolchains.
• Design integrations across 3D engines, iOS/mobile, and cloud systems to speed up iteration and deployment.
• Instrument automated testing and feedback systems that learn from both self-play and user behavior, accelerating bug detection and product polish.
• Own new platform features end-to-end —from design to production, ensuring reliability, scalability, and developer usability.
• Quickly assess and refine Roam’s existing architecture, enforce clear service contracts, and eliminate deployment friction in your first week.

Required Qualifications

• Scaled AWS (Lambda, SQS, S3, EC2, IAM, DynamoDB), and multiplier backend infra.
• Deep fluency in sql, nosql, python.
• Significant experience in software engineering and in applied AI.
• Comfort with Vector DBs (Pinecone, OpenSearch) and semantic search systems.
• 1+ year full time experience at a hypergrowth startup.
