Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Role Overview: 

As our very first Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) here at Blinq, you will ensure the seamless operation and performance of our digital infrastructure. Your primary duties will revolve around designing, implementing, and maintaining robust systems that can scale efficiently while upholding high standards of reliability, availability, and performance. You'll collaborate closely with development teams to architect resilient solutions, automate deployment processes, and establish monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues. Embracing a culture of continuous improvement, you'll play a key role in optimizing our systems for peak performance and uptime, driving innovation while safeguarding the reliability of our services for our users.

    • Demonstrate advanced proficiency and expertise within specialized technical domains. 
    • Boast a comprehensive understanding of programming languages, methodologies, and tools, utilizing this knowledge to autonomously tackle technical obstacles.
    • Provide mentorship to junior colleagues, offering valuable technical direction and guiding them in terms of best practices. 
    • Work with teams to define and implement SLOs & error budgets, as well as the monitoring and measurement of them.

 

2. Architecture & Systems:

 

    • Act as a  key player in system design talks, making significant contributions to architectural choices.
    • Craft and execute intricate solutions to tackle complex issues that align with longer-term business goals. 
    • Take the lead in designing major system elements, ensuring they harmonize seamlessly with the broader system architecture.
    • Be a leader in continuing to improve our on-call and incident response processes. 

 

3. Better on the Inside:

 

    • Actively lead and drive improvements to internal workflows. 
    • Champion initiatives aimed at optimizing operations, swiftly identifying and rectifying bottlenecks. 
    • Introduce fresh strategies to elevate internal tools, methodologies, and workflows, showcasing a proactive stance towards refining internal systems and processes.
    • Be the go to for our CI/CD architecture and pipelines. 

 

4. Leadership:

 

    • Embody remarkable leadership attributes, and be passionate about up-skilling others from a technical standpoint. 
    • Spearhead initiatives, motivate team members, and actively foster a supportive, comfortable work environment.
    • Showcase accountability, taking full ownership of tasks. 
    • Influence team dynamics and serve as an exemplary figure amongst colleagues.

 

5. Teamwork:

 

    • Provide strong leadership within teams, serving as a mentor and guide to junior and mid-level engineers. 
    • Actively mentor and guide team members, cultivating an atmosphere of teamwork and knowledge exchange. 
    • Play a pivotal role in the team's successes, celebrate wins collectively, and foster an environment of open communication to tackle complex challenges collaboratively.
