Site Reliability Engineering team
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a discipline focused on making it easier to operate systems for engineers working on them. With our company growing and scaling, we can run into unexpected outages more often. Best to reduce and limit those as reliable services tend to lead to happy users and happy engineers. SRE practices can help us find the balance between velocity and reliability. The SRE team is dedicated to enabling engineering teams in their reliability journey through tools, processes and knowledge in the realm of observability, incident response, learning from failure, release strategies and much more! We want to give teams the confidence to take full service ownership and bounce back from failure faster and more easily. This team currently consists of two site reliability engineers and one engineering manager. We are looking for one more SRE to join after we said goodbye to a beloved team member.
Above all else we value open communication and good teamwork to achieve a shared vision. We are looking for proactivity in spotting problem areas and proposing ideas for improvements. You value good engineering principles and long-term design
Some hands-on experience with monitoring from SRE or user perspective, experience with DataDog is a plus
Experience with incident response and review, preferably in a no-blame culture
Some hands-on experience implementing resilience patterns such as circuit breakers, retry mechanisms, rate limiters, etc
Some professional technical experience, building and operating platform services at scale in a containerized environment
Some hands-on experience with building services with backend language such as Golang or Python. Preferably, we’d love someone with a background in software engineering to join the SRE team.
Hands-on experience using cloud infrastructure as a service provider, using container orchestration and infrastructure as code, experience with AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform are a plus.
Working understanding of networking principles such as routing, load-balancing, TCP/IP stack
Experience with teaching, implementing SLOs, performance testing and/or chaos engineering is a plus
Maintain and make optimal and efficient use of our reliability-related SaaS tooling (DataDog, PagerDuty, StatusPage)
Improve incident management, response and review processes.
Build and maintain services for engineers to improve the reliability of their products. As part of our 2024 roadmap we want to investigate (and probably implement) incident response platforms, chaos engineering and service mesh. This year, we also hope to improve rollback time, implement more resilience patterns and start running incident drills more frequently.
Work with other teams and engineers to understand their needs in terms of tooling and knowledge, help them with their reliability related queries, and advise on how to improve stability and resilience. We have an SRE workshop offering including workshops on incident management & response and SLIs and SLOs. We are responsible for and we raise reliability awareness through incident report and availability reviews.
Embed with Product teams on part-time basis. Within SRE we offer to help Product teams deliver on projects with a reliability angle. This way we improve our relationship with Product engineers and know what drives them and how we can make their life easier
You will have the chance to work in a global team with inclusivity at the heart of everything we do. You can get an idea of what that looks like for us here.

A note on remote
Our work environment is hybrid-remote, meaning that we support our employees to work remotely and in the office. We encourage employees to decide for themselves and with their team whether or when to go to the office. The SRE team typically works from the office 1 day a week.
Equal Opportunities
WeTransfer is an equal opportunity employer and we pride ourselves on the diversity of our people. We welcome you, and everything that makes you—well, you. That includes your gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, or disability status.
Background screening
While it is not necessarily a determining or disqualifying factor for any role, you may be required to complete a standard employment background screening.
