About the role:
We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer with extensive experience in AWS cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing and automating deployment processes, working with a variety of frontend and backend frameworks and languages, and handling both monolithic and micro-service based architectures. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and scalability of our applications.
Key outcomes for this role in the next 12 months include:
Complete an initial assessment and action plan, identifying immediate areas for improvements and potential bottlenecks.
Take ownership of all deployment pipelines from the existing developers.
Work with engineers to develop a stable, efficient way to make rapid deployments frequently across many different backend and frontend services.
In partnership with QA, establish and action on a CI/CD plan across our various environments.
Automate provisioning and management of resources in cloud environments, implementing infrastructure as code where possible.
What will you be doing?
You will design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure to support our applications and services.
You will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing.
You will collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of applications.
You will monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and security.
You will automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
You will support and troubleshoot issues across the development, testing, and production environments.
You will implement and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions to ensure system health and performance.
You will work with a variety of frontend and backend frameworks and languages, ensuring compatibility and efficiency in both monolithic and micro-service architectures.
You will stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve our infrastructure and processes.
You will create and maintain thorough documentation of processes, configurations, and best practices.
Requirements
Professional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role with a strong focus on AWS cloud infrastructure and serverless environments (e.g., Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway).
Proficiency in managing and automating CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI, with strong scripting skills.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, and containerization/orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Proficiency in managing frontend serverless deployment environments (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, Vercel) and understanding mobile application deployment pipelines (Android).
Familiarity with frontend (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and backend frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Django, Laravel), as well as both monolithic and microservice architectures.
Strong knowledge of system and server software configuration in containerized Linux environments (e.g., AWS EC2).
AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) and familiarity with database management/optimization (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) are assets.

A typical hiring range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 CAD per year with the final salary offer based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
