Role overview:
A Senior Cloud Engineer plays a critical role in managing and optimizing cloud environments
How you will create impact:
- Server Management: Manage and maintain a fleet of Linux servers, ensuring their security, availability, and performance
- System Administration: Perform system configuration, software installation, updates, and patch management on Linux servers
- Backup and Recovery: Set up and manage server backups and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve server-related issues, working closely with cross-functional teams as needed
- User Management: Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls on Linux servers
- Compliance: Ensure that server configurations and practices adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of server configurations, procedures, and best practices
- Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline server administration tasks
- AWS: Management of the full AWS lifecycle, provisioning, security, networking, and automation.
- Data Integrity and Access Control:Ensure the maintenance of data integrity and enforce stringent access control measures across the AWS platform.
- Monitoring and Performance Management: Implement and manage effective monitoring strategies for the availability and performance of AWS services and instances, ensuring optimal operation and quick issue resolution.
- Level 2 Support:Provide L2 support to address and resolve incidents and problems related to servers and IT infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Performance Optimization:Drive improvements in the performance, scalability, and availability of application resources, utilizing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency.
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
- Proven experience as a Linux Server Administrator, with a strong track record in managing Linux-based server environments
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in Linux server administration, including Red Hat, CentOS & Ubuntu.
- Strong knowledge of server security best practices and experience with security tools and practices
- Scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python) for automation tasks is a plus.
- Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (eg, VMware, Docker) is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Linux Professional Institute Certification, Red Hat Certified Engineer & AWS Solution Architect Associate/professional) are a plus
