The Director of Platform Engineering will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction, development, and management of our developer platform engineering teams. Reporting directly to the CTO and part of the senior Tech leadership team, this role is crucial to the successful delivery of Taxfix’s products and services, positively impacting the experience of every engineer within the organization. You will drive the evolution and enhancement of our platform, ensuring its usability, reliability, cost efficiency and scalability. The ideal candidate will have proven record of leading platform engineering to success, experience working in public cloud, and a deep technical understanding of platform engineering tooling and practices. Technical Leadership & Strategy: Lead the technical direction and strategy for the development and evolution of our engineering platform. Provide technical leadership, drawing on practical experience with CI/CD, Testing environments and methodologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Configuration as Code (CaC). Drive innovation and ensure the adoption of quality best practices and cutting-edge technologies, services and tools
Team Management & Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of cloud infra, SREs, quality, Developer Experience and security engineers. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Ensure team alignment with the company's goals and objectives. Oversee the professional development and growth of the engineering team, identifying training needs and opportunities for advancement
Architecture & Design: Oversee the architecture and design of the platform, ensuring velocity, reliability, scalability security and cost efficiency. Work closely with product engineering to to find and implement opportunities for automation and align technical solutions with their needs.
Quality & Performance: Establish and enforce quality standards and best practices for software development (Mobile App and web). Ensure the platform meets performance benchmarks and provides a seamless experience for all engineers across the function. Define and track Key Performance Indicators to drive continuous improvement
Collaboration & Communication: Partner cross-functionally with architecture, product engineers, Product managers, department leads and SaaS vendors, to develop a cohesive roadmap and ensure smooth operation. Communicate technical strategies, insights and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels, including non-technical audiences
Proven track record in building scalable, high-performance Engineering platforms, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
Extensive software engineering development and design experience with complex and highly scalable products using multiple mobile and web technologies, platforms, and languages
Strong background in infrastructure and public cloud, ideally GCP
In-depth knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and practices
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience in fintech or related industries is a plus
