🏢 About H1
H1's Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps team is responsible for building, automating, and optimizing the AWS infrastructure that powers our healthcare data platforms and applications. As H1 continues to scale globally, our team plays a critical role in enabling engineering teams to deploy and operate secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environments.
🎯 The Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll be a hands-on technical contributor responsible for designing, building, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure at scale. This role is primarily focused on cloud infrastructure engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and cost optimization, rather than traditional Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
✅ Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and manage scalable AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
Own infrastructure projects end-to-end, from technical design and provisioning through deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Build and maintain AWS environments leveraging IAM, S3, EKS, EMR, and supporting cloud services.
Develop automation and self-service capabilities using Python and scripting to streamline infrastructure provisioning and reduce manual effort.
Optimize AWS infrastructure costs through resource utilization analysis, cost dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI, partnering with engineering teams to support application and infrastructure deployments.
Support infrastructure and database-related troubleshooting, collaborating with engineering and database teams to resolve issues and improve operational efficiency.
📌 Required Qualifications
6+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or DevOps, including 5+ years working extensively with AWS.
Strong expertise designing, building, and managing AWS infrastructure, including IAM, S3, EKS (Kubernetes), and EMR.
Advanced proficiency with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), infrastructure provisioning, and automation.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration in AWS environments.
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using CircleCI.
Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting to automate infrastructure workflows and reduce manual processes.
Experience with AWS cost optimization, resource utilization, and cloud infrastructure security and networking.
Experience supporting or troubleshooting production databases, ideally within AWS environments.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently own complex infrastructure projects and collaborate across engineering teams.
⭐ Desirable Experience
You're a hands-on AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys building systems, solving complex technical challenges, and automating repetitive work. You have deep experience provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure through Terraform and are comfortable owning projects independently, from initial design through production deployment.
