The Revi Role 👩💻 👨🏾💻: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic team. As an SRE at Revi, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our critical POS systems. SREs at Revi are a blend of pragmatic operators and software craftspeople, applying sound software engineering principles, operational discipline, and mature automation to our environments and codebase.
What You’ll Do 👷🏾♂️
- Monitor and maintain the uptime, availability, and performance of our POS systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and implement automation solutions.
- Act as a champion for reliability, influencing product roadmaps for improved resiliency and reliability.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to incidents and ensure 24/7 system availability.
- Conduct post-incident reviews (PIRs) to learn from incidents and prevent future occurrences.
- Proactively plan and execute capacity scaling measures to accommodate business growth.
- Ensure security and compliance, especially in handling sensitive payment data.
- Create and maintain documentation related to system architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in SRE, sharing knowledge with the team.
- Mentor and coach peers and reliability champions on SRE best practices.
Qualifications 🎓
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of industry experience in building and running production systems.
- Strong expertise in system administration, Linux, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible).
- Deep understanding of software architecture, cloud, and microservices.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- Knowledge of incident management, post-incident analysis, and capacity planning.
- Ability to set an example for the team with positive and inclusive leadership.
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards (PCI DSS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
