Product Support, IT & Security Engineer

Own day-to-day product support, internal IT operations and security administration across Wise's products and business systems. We currently operate in Microsoft Azure and are deployed into regulated, operational airport environments.

🎯 The Role

This role involves managing customer incidents and support requests, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining support documentation. The position also includes owning the technical architecture of our cloud platform and designing scalable, resilient, and secure systems in Azure.

• Manage customer incidents and support requests
• Troubleshoot issues
• Escalate defects
• Produce release notes and customer communications
• Maintain support documentation
• Own the technical architecture of our cloud platform
• Design scalable, resilient and secure systems in Azure
• Improve application structure, performance and reliability
• Lead architectural decisions for new products and modules
• Support API design, integrations and data flows
• Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and observability
• Own backup, disaster recovery and availability strategy
• Own the platform security posture
• Maintain ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials technical controls
• Implement secure development best practice (OWASP, IAM, encryption, secrets management)
• Support vulnerability management, patching and audits
• Introduce and enforce coding standards and best practices
• Lead code reviews and architectural reviews
• Improve testing, QA and release confidence
• Improve documentation and system visibility
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency
• Act as technical lead on new projects
• Mentor and support other engineers
• Shape technical roadmaps aligned to business goals
• Support client-facing technical discussions when needed

📌 Required Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering background (Python and/or PHP)
• SQL (inc PostgreSQL) and data-driven systems
• Linux production environments
• Cloud infrastructure (Azure)
• Designing and operating production systems
• DevOps & cloud
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Azure DevOps or similar)
• Infrastructure as Code (Azure)
• Monitoring, logging and alerting
• High availability and disaster recovery design
• Security & governance
• Secure system design
• Identity and access management
• Secrets management
• Vulnerability management
• Experience in regulated or audited environments
