Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer who will report directly to the Director of IT Systems & Architecture in PPFA’s Information Technology department. This is a remote role, but PPFA is open for candidates who would like to be office based in NYC or DC as well.
Purpose:
●The Senior Cloud Engineer, you will lead the development and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure,
●Contribute to the design and implementation of cloud solutions for Azure, GCP and AWS
●Their expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficiency and security of our cloud environment, meeting the evolving needs of our organization.
Delivery:
●Design, document, and deploy cloud solutions
●Implement security standards within the cloud infrastructure
●Automate deployment and teardown of cloud environments
●Monitor systems and report issues
●Monitor existing systems to ensure structural integrity
●Install and configure operating systems and other software validating systems and ensuring their operational readiness
●Participate in documenting and accreditation of the cloud environment according to applicable standards
●Work in tandem with IT Operations, Enterprise Architecture, IS Operations to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the organization.
●Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
●Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design
●Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
Engagement:
●Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience (e.g., EC2, account access, security groups).
●Maintain and monitor cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, MS Azure, Office 365).
●Configuration in AWS (e.g., Sophos web filtering, VPC backup and Mgmt., KMS).
●Manage and support Linux systems and Windows systems.
●Maintain and build scripts to manage the cloud infrastructure and server instances.
●Work with the Information Security and Software Development departments to design an operating environment and data flow that is secure.
●Develop testing and implementation plans for projects with multiple moving parts.
●Actively participate in troubleshooting and RCA.
●Consistently provide high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
●Accountable for accomplishing tasks both independently and collaboratively.
●
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
●Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Information Technology
●3+ years experience in Cloud Engineering.
●Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC
●AWS, GCP, or Azure certification preferred.
●Strong experience with WAN/LAN technologies and networking techniques.
●Experience with various networking components such as: ACLs, Firewalls, VPN, MPLS, SSL, TLS, SMTP, DNS, DHCP. NAT, etc.
●Demonstrated knowledge of scripting using Python, Powershell or other similar programming languages.
●Experience with remote access technology such as: VDI, VPN, etc.
●Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
●Capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively and efficiently.
●Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
●Strong documentation skills.
●Outstanding customer service skills and ability to present ideas in a user-friendly manner.
●Highly self-motivated.
●Strong attention to detail.
Travel: This position is an office-based or telecommuter role in NY/DC. Up to 10% travel on occasion.
