About the Job 

As a DevOps Engineer at OpenSesame, you will be pivotal in optimizing our development and deployment processes. Your responsibilities include ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our infrastructure and applications. Collaboration with our broader engineering team is essential as you streamline our software delivery pipeline and drive continuous improvement.

Performance Objectives 

Within the first three months

• Enhance Infrastructure Automation through strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform, to enable consistent and automated infrastructure provisioning.
• Enhance automation and orchestration throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle by facilitating automation wherever needed.
• Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and actively seek opportunities to enhance processes and technology.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote DevOps practices and culture throughout the organization.

Within the First Six Months

• Streamline and optimize the CI/CD pipeline for faster and more reliable software delivery, primarily aiming for shorter release cycles and faster time-to-market.
• Demonstrate excellent technical and personal communication skills, including documentation and diagramming when appropriate, to foster effective teamwork.
• Elevate the team through mentoring and contributing to team improvement.
• Strengthen monitoring and observability practices.

Within the First Nine Months

• Assist in integrating security and compliance checks into the CI/CD pipeline.

Within the First Year

• Evaluate and adopt modern technologies and best practices to replace outdated or problematic components, reducing technical debt in code and infrastructure to enhance system stability and maintainability.

Location: This position can be based anywhere in the US. We operate as a remote-first company, and invest in all-company meetings several times a year. 

Performance Driven: We're looking for self-starters with a track record of delivering excellent results, but we're highly selective about who we hire. We don't focus on typical job requirements, instead, we're interested in specific examples from your past experiences. All positions can be based anywhere in the US, and require up to 15 days of travel per year, with senior management and leadership teams requiring up to 35 days.
