Newsweek is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. As an Azure DevOps Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, maintaining, and managing our Azure cloud computing infrastructure. You will work closely with our data, DevOps, and security teams to ensure the secure, efficient, and scalable operation of our Azure services.

Responsibilities:

• DevOps:
  • Design, develop, and maintain our data processing and analytics infrastructure on the Azure platform.
  • Implement robust data pipelines using Microsoft Stack.
  • Implement and Administer Azure Kubernetes.
  • Work closely with Product Owners and Architects to develop Azure Data Platforms.
  • Work with the leadership to set the standards for software engineering practices within the IT team and support across other disciplines.
  • Play an active role in team meetings and workshops in designing solutions.
  • Choose and use the right analytical libraries, programming languages, and frameworks for each task.
  • Implement security, privacy, and compliance measures to ensure data protection and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Azure technologies and industry best practices, continuously improving data engineering processes and optimizing data pipeline performance.
• Cloud Administration:
  • Provisioning Azure Resources: Deploy and manage virtual machines (VMs), Azure App Services, and integrated storage.
  • Networking: Implement and manage virtual networks. Configure Azure load balancers. Manage network security with firewalls and routing preferences. Integrate on-premises network with Azure Virtual Network.
  • Storage: Manage and implement Azure storage accounts. Manage and implement Blob storage. Manage and implement solutions that use Azure Files.
  • Monitoring and Backup: Monitor resources using Azure Monitor and Azure Security Center. Backup and restore VMs using Azure Backup. Configure Azure Site Recovery.
  • Identity Management: Manage Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). Configure SSO (Single Sign-On). Implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions. Integrate Azure AD with on-premises AD domain.
  • Security: Implement and manage security policies. Ensure compliance with security requirements. Understand and configure the Azure Security Center.
  • Scaling and Performance: Implement and manage Azure scale sets and auto-scaling. Monitor the performance and adjust resources as necessary.
  • Cost Management: Estimate product costs and configure spending limits and quotas. Monitor, analyze, and reduce costs where possible.
  • Migration: Facilitate the migration of on-premises infrastructure and workloads to Azure, using tools like Azure Migrate.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with Azure services and resources.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of cloud computing technology, especially Microsoft Azure offerings, services, and resources.
• Familiarity with Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure portal, and ARM templates.
• Knowledge of networking concepts like VPNs, IP addressing, DNS, and load balancing.
• Familiarity with storage solutions and databases, both relational and NoSQL.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Basic understanding of scripting and automation.
• Familiarity with GitHub and its integration with Azure products.
• Microsoft Azure certifications, such as the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, can be beneficial.
