About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for building and operating Menlo Security's Infrastructure Platform. Together, we enable our customers to connect to the Internet without compromise. Our environment provides services globally. We expect failure, build security in by design, create evolvable systems, and enable multi-tenancy across the infrastructure. Automation is an absolute for us. We are committed to getting it done properly, the first time. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll join a group of experienced engineers located in the North America region who are part of a globally distributed team responsible for managing the company's core infrastructure services and maintaining our constantly growing platform. The team is responsible for deploying and operating the Menlo Security product and infrastructure. Success in this role requires a broad background with a good understanding of systems and networks, and being comfortable writing automation.
Responsibilities
● Work across various projects and collaborate with Engineering, Product, Compliance,
and Security teams to design, build and maintain our products and services.
● Be an advocate of Site Reliability Engineering principles, partner with Service Owners to
adopt best practices. Consult on capacity management, platform management, and
systems design.
● Identify sources of toil and eliminate them. Improve our operational processes, iterate
over our monitoring and alerting. Contribute to our documentation and knowledge base.
● Take ownership of projects, lead them to completion, managing planning, execution, and
communication.
● Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation as part of a globally distributed team.
Requirements
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent
practical experience.
● Experience with Systems Engineering, working with GNU/Linux, TCP/IP networks
(firewalls, load balancers, proxies); troubleshooting communication and potential issues
across multiple layers of the network stack: routing, DNS resolution, HTTP connection
and data transfer, TLS certificates and tunnels.
● Experience developing software and writing automation, working with Configuration
Management, CI automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
● Experience with Public Cloud Service Providers, deploying, scaling, and managing
distributed systems across multiple regions.
Our Compensation and Benefits
At Menlo Security, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $127,000 - $223,000.
In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is Menlo Security’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become Menlo Security shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
