🏢 About Civic Roundtable

We're looking for a founding infrastructure engineer to own our cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, security, and compliance. As our first and only platform hire, your goal will be to enable engineers to move fast with confidence, while meeting the high standards of government technology.
This role will report to and work closely with our Head of Engineering.

🎯 The Role

You'll play a direct role in making government more effective and efficient. You'll build a foundational function from scratch and shape its direction. You'll work on infrastructure that matters – government-grade with real stakes.

✅ Key Responsibilities

• Platform & infrastructure – AWS GovCloud, Terraform codebase, reliability, performance, and cost
• Developer tooling – CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions), local dev environment setup, and AI-enablement across the team
• Security & compliance – SOC 2 audits, NIST alignment, pen test coordination, access reviews, policy maintenance, and pursuit of additional authorizations
• Internal IT – the lightweight day-to-day (password resets, device issues) that keeps the team unblocked
• Automation & efficiency – finding manual, repetitive, or error-prone processes across the team and automating them away

📌 Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, platform, or security engineering roles
• High confidence with AWS, Terraform, and Github Actions
• Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, FedRAMP, NIST, CJIS, HIPAA, or similar)
• Fluency with AI – for your own IaC, to enable product engineers, and to automate systems across the company
