First Street is the standard for Climate Risk Financial Modeling. We use transparent and peer-reviewed methodologies to calculate the past, present, and future climate risk for every property in the world. We started working with the world’s leading climate scientists to create groundbreaking, climate-adjusted, property specific models over 8 years ago and haven’t stopped.

We’re hiring our first dedicated DevOps Engineer to take ownership of responsibilities that have historically been shared across engineering. You won’t be “building from zero” - we already have systems in place - but you will bring a high level of ownership over all aspects of your technical practice: smoother deployments, stronger reliability, clearer observability, tighter identity/access controls, and a more repeatable infrastructure foundation.

Key Responsibilities

• Over your first year, success looks like measurable improvements across reducing deployment pain, improving observability and on-call, formalizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), introducing practical FinOps hygiene, owning and evolving our platform across AWS and on-prem compute environments.


• Lead efforts to standardize operational workflows and reduce “institutional knowledge” dependencies across the team.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on DevOps/platform ownership experience, ideally having been the primary owner in a prior role.


• Deep comfort operating production public cloud systems: debugging, incident response, performance triage, and operational discipline.


• Practical experience improving CI/CD and deployment reliability.


• Fluency with cloud infrastructure (AWS strongly preferred) and containerized workloads (Kubernetes experience strongly preferred).


• Security-minded approach, especially around identity and access management and SSO/SAML concepts.
