Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading. We are looking for an experienced cloud engineer to work with our engineering team to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain cloud-based solutions. You will be responsible for deploying and debugging cloud stacks, educating teams on new cloud initiatives, and ensuring the security of the cloud infrastructure.
To be successful as a cloud engineer, you should be able to identify the most optimal cloud-based solutions and maintain cloud infrastructure in accordance with best practices and company security policies. A top-notch cloud engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills, stay current with industry trends, and be a team player. The right individual will proactively engage directly with traders and support cloud initiatives across the firm.
Responsibilities:
Managing cloud environments in accordance with best practices and company security guidelines.
Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based technologies and initiatives, providing associated training as required.
Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and architect optimal cloud solutions.
Regularly reviewing existing systems, making recommendations for improvements, and modifying them in collaboration with the system owners.
Designing, developing and deploying modular cloud-based systems.
Ensuring efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
Identifying, analyzing, and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
Interacting with traders and technology staff, providing cloud support, and making recommendations based on the firm’s needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Technical degree in computer science or a related field
7+ years of experience working with AWS and a proven track record of building complex infrastructure on Linux (especially RHEL/CentOS)
Sound experience in a scripting language (Bash, Python, Golang, etc.)
Expert level knowledge with AWS design, architecture and services (VPC, EC2, IAM, S3 etc.) – professional and specialty level certifications are a plus
Well-rounded knowledge of Cybersecurity, networking and related tools
Sound experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, especially Ansible and Terraform
Sound knowledge of server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud computing
Experience with architecting and maintaining high-availability production systems
Experience in cloud-based software installation, configuration and patching
Knowledge of system monitoring in a cloud environment including cloud-specific products and tools
Experience with monitoring architecture and implementing monitoring agents, dashboards, escalations and alerts
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent analytical skills
