Azure Cloud Engineer

To provide Azure cloud technical expertise including building, migrating, modernizing, supporting,
and maintaining the Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 environments. The role will play a critical role in
ITS infrastructure projects to deliver on strategic objectives of the organisation.

 

Responsibilities:

 

    • Work as part of project teams.
    • Maintaining and manage the Azure platform including but not limited to capacity management, cost management, EntraID for Identity Management, InTune.
    • Maintaining Azure security services such as SIEM and Microsoft Defender used for workstations and on-premises servers, Azure firewall, Front Door, Exchange Online email protection, Network Security Groups, gateways, and privileged access management.
    • Managing Azure patch management of on-prem servers using Azure Update Manager.
    • Troubleshoot and resolving technical issues in Azure.
    • Build/configure Microsoft Azure services and infrastructure according to best practices and utilizing tools and methodologies such as DevOps, infrastructure as code, and automation.
    • Develop and execute strategy to move IT services from on-premises into Azure.
    • Build/maintain API Management.
    • Build/maintain Azure B2C for identity access and SSO.

    • Process:

    • Ensure that all work follows the appropriate company methodology – e.g. change management, incident management, ITIL best practices.
    • Manage delivery of all assigned technical project activities to ensure they are planned and tracked to completion.
    • Development of technical processes and procedures.
    • Manage the delivery of all root cause analysis reports for high severity incidents relating to IT services
    • Create and maintain platform documentation.
    • Attend to incident and request escalations from the IT Service Desk.
    • Escalate and manage incident/request escalations to external technology partners.
    • Respond to severity 1 and 2 monitoring system alerts during and out of business hours.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

    • 3-5 years hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
    • Proven experience with utilizing DevOps methodology, CI/CD YAML pipelines, Bicep, ARM, Git,
    • Proven experience with utilizing the Azure DevOps platform.
    • Proven experience with building and maintaining Azure native services and features such as IaaS, Azure Functions, Web Apps, cloud storage (blobs file shares, queues and tables),
    • EntraID, APIM, Azure B2C, Front Door, Azure Kubernetes Services.
    • Proven experience with Azure networking, network peering, gateways, and Express Route.
    • Proven knowledge and experience with Azure backup and availability zones.
    • Demonstrated experience with managing and migrating IT services from traditional datacentres into Azure.
    • Microsoft Intune management and configuration.
    • Microsoft 365 experience with managing and building services such as Exchange Online hybrid deployments.
    • Good understanding of ITIL principles and methodologies.
    • Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
    • Strong fundamental understanding and experience with enterprise technologies and infrastructure including networking, servers & storage, cloud platforms, and virtualisation.
    • Knowledge of Windows concepts, Domains, Active Directory components, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, networks, data centres, and application software.
    • Methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.
    • Team oriented, self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to work flexibly as part of a dynamic and fast-paced organisation.
    • Strong focus on stakeholder engagement and customer service.
    • A willingness to take direction, manage multiple tasks of varying priority whilst always putting the customer first.
    • Self-motivated and driven to learn and grow.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Other:

    • Travel to the Australian Regions and New Zealand office may be required at times.
    • Travel to conferences/workshops as required representing the company.
    • On-call support or out-of-hours work may be required to ensure the successful delivery of support services
