Principal Cloud Engineer (AWS) - Defence/SC Cleared
Location: We are based in Aldgate, London. Our customers are based across the UK. Circa 2 days per week onsite in London is required, or less frequently for customers outside London.
Salary: £110,000 – £130,000
Defence/SC Clearance Requirements:
Cloudscaler work with highly-secure private defence and government customers on mission-critical programmes of work. This means that SC clearance is required. Upon joining Cloudscaler we will undertake SC clearance checks so you must be eligible to pass SC clearance. In future, DV clearance is likely to be required, so the ability/willingness to pass DV clearance is advantageous but not essential.

About the role
Cloudscaler are seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer who will be a thought leader within our engineering practice with extensive knowledge of platform and site reliability engineering best practise.
You will be guiding our customers through complex cloud transformations and so will need to be opinionated about cloud and platform best practice.
Key Experience
Experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring team members and leading by example
Hands on experience of working with a wide range of AWS services and an understanding of how to select the right service for a given challenge
Extensive experience with landing zones, multi-account and multi-tenant environments
Experience operating a cloud platform at scale, ideally in highly regulated environments
Thorough understanding of how to design and build secure, scalable, and resilient platforms on AWS
Thorough understanding of the key security risks that are present when using AWS and how these can be prevented, detected, and remediated
Building AWS resources using infrastructure as code using Terraform (or CloudFormation)
Ability to advise on infrastructure as code structure and modularisation
An understanding of the challenges and priorities of operating services, and how SRE principles can be applied
Implementing and working with continuous integration / continuous delivery pipelines (moved to required)
Experience with system design, and the ability to assess trade-offs with design options

1. Screening call with our Talent Acquisition team
2. 1st Interview - 30 minute remote interview with our hiring team
3. 2nd Interview - 60 minute remote technical interview with members of our engineering team
4. 3rd Interview - 60 minute in person interview with members of our Senior Leadership Team
