We are seeking a highly skilled SRE to join our team. This role will be responsible for creating and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable systems. You will be collaborating with the engineering team to architect and build new systems from the ground up as well as maintain existing systems. It is a unique and challenging role, which will provide you with immense opportunity to design and develop wide-reaching tools. We are an early-stage startup and we expect every member of our team to roll-up their sleeves and do what is needed to deliver an amazing customer experience.
You’d be joining a highly experienced group of founders including our CEO Kevin Nazemi, who served as the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Oscar Health (NYSE: OSCR), and a company financially supported by some of the most respected FinTech Investors.
Responsibilities
Architect, implement, and document highly available, reliable, secure, and scalable systems to operate all facet's of Charlie's infrastructure. You are expected to hold yourself to the highest standard and pay close attention to detail in everything you deliver.
Integrate security into all aspects of the job. Build highly secure systems, and continuously monitor and respond to security incidents, while adapting and hardening the infrastructure. Create security best practices policies and guidelines, and ensure their effective usage across all teams. Work with contractors and auditors to become SOC2 and PCI compliant.
Proactively monitor all systems and applications, and quickly respond to and resolve all incidents that arise, while building more resilient fault-tolerant systems to mitigate future issues. Build and maintain monitoring tools and dashboards to provide continuous visibility into the system’s health and performance.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to provide optimal efficiencies for engineering teams. Automate repetitive tasks across the entire infrastructure to reduce manual intervention. Use an Infrastructure As A Service approach to deploy and update all systems.
Communicate and work closely with 3rd party vendors to deliver further controls and efficiencies.
Collaborate cross functionally, with teams across the organization to establish and enforce Service Level Objectives and Agreements.
Review tasks critically and ensure they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery. Anticipate and communicate blockers and delays before they require escalation.
Actively participate in design and code-review sessions, advocate innovation and uphold SDLC best practices. Be accountable for ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.
Write easily maintainable code that you or anyone else can effortlessly work with. Continually maintain and improve your work, and quickly and effectively resolve bugs. Work closely with the customer service team to resolve customer issues in the fastest possible turnaround time.

Qualifications
Strong experience in design, implementation and deployment of secure, scalable, reliable, recoverable, and well-architected systems on AWS utilizing Terraform, Kubernetes, as well as a multitude of other AWS services.
Experience with Git, and with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Command of automation technologies and tools, as well as the ability to effectively write code and program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages.
Deep understanding of Operating Systems, as well as networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.).
Knowledge and experience working to meet compliance regulations and requirements such as SOC2 certification and PCI compliance.
Experience delivering software systems using agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban), strong analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to work and think under pressure, and making timely decisions based on facts, knowledge, experience and judgment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with dexterity working with a variety of individuals and groups, both in-person and virtually with remote team members that are geographically spread across the world. Being a team player who respects diversity and a multitude of cultures on the team is a must.
