Why do we need you? Well, we are looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer who will bring operational maturity, deep hands-on subject-matter expertise, and a strong drive to make an impact. You will report to the Head of Infrastructure and will be responsible for successful delivery of Infrastructure roadmap objectives, with the goal of providing a self-service platform that allows product developers to independently operate Calendly’s services.
A day in the life of a Staff Site Reliability Engineer at Calendly
On a typical day, you will be working on:
Designing and building tools and applications to extend Calendly’s infrastructure platform
Evaluating and guiding the deployment of cloud native open source tools
Exercising deep expertise in cloud infrastructure concepts and patterns
Offering and evangelizing patterns for application teams to consume for application observability and reliability
Fostering a collaborative environment of learning and knowledge dissemination
What do we need from you?
12+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development
4+ years of experience leading technical projects
An eagerness and drive to teach, share your knowledge, and mentor others
Comfortable, and practiced, working directly with internal customers to understand needs/requirements and collaborate on solutions
Creative problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and ability to deliver solutions to complex issues
A strong understanding of the Linux operating system, and systems engineering fundamentals
Strong technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure (especially GCP), distributed systems, and reliability practices
Deep experience designing, building, and running highly-available production infrastructure platforms
Strong Golang development experience; especially writing APIs to build, orchestrate and manage cloud infrastructure
Solid working knowledge of patterns and principles for designing and implementing cloud native applications on Kubernetes, such as Controllers and Operators
Robust knowledge of computer networking principles and extensive experience with cloud networking technologies to create scalable and secure environments
Extensive knowledge and working experience with software and infrastructure tuning and observability (especially Datadog)
Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours.

The ranges listed below are the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change. Calendly takes a number of factors into consideration when determining an employee’s starting salary, including relevant experience, relevant skills sets, interview performance, location/metropolitan area, and internal pay equity. Base salary is just one component of Calendly’s total rewards package. All full-time (30 hours/week) employees are also eligible for our Quarterly Corporate Bonus program (or Sales incentive), equity awards, and competitive benefits. Calendly uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location, or the onsite building location if hybrid, to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current geographic zones are as follows:
Tier 1: San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, New York City, NY
Tier 2: Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and all other cities in CA.
Tier 3: All other locations not in Tier 1 or Tier 2
