Software Engineer - Infrastructure & DevOps

Job Overview

Basic Capital is seeking a Software Engineer - Infrastructure & DevOps to join our team in New York. This is a full-time, on-site engineering position responsible for platform reliability, security, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a founding member of the Infrastructure & Security team, responsible for platform reliability, security posture, and compliance readiness


• Own Basic Capital's ongoing SOC 2 Type II compliance, implementing security controls, documenting processes, and working with auditors


• Design and implement comprehensive observability systems including logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing


• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code


• Optimize system performance, latency, and cost efficiency as we scale


• Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS) including networking, security groups, IAM policies, and compliance-related configurations

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM)


• Proven track record implementing security best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar)


• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)


• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)


• Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and encryption


• Experience with observability platforms and building monitoring/alerting systems (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch)


• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go) for automation
