AnySignal is a startup whose mission is to usher in the next generation of RF products and services. For the most demanding space and defense missions, AnySignal provides a flexible platform with world-class performance that is easy to deploy, monitor, purchase, and upgrade.
Our team has a diverse range of backgrounds that cover cloud computing to artificial intelligence, communications and sensing, embedded systems, and much more.
The Embedded Platform Engineer leads the design, development, and upkeep of our embedded Linux systems for space-based radio platforms. Responsibilities span from customizing Linux using Buildroot or Yocto, to implementing memory schemes and secure booting. Work closely with Electrical and FPGA engineers for system integration, emphasizing on RadHard components and high-speed links like GbE, PCI-E.
Responsibilities
- Customize Linux distributions for real-time capabilities, minimal footprint, and mission-specific functionalities, using Buildroot.
- Create and manage device trees for dynamic resource allocation and hardware configuration.
- Coordinate with Electrical Engineers for integration of RF designs and high-speed digital circuits.
- Collaborate with FPGA Engineers on firmware compatibility and hardware-level debugging.
- Develop robust memory management schemes, including volatile and non-volatile technologies like DDR, Flash, EEPROM.
- Implement secure boot mechanisms with hardware-based root-of-trust and cryptographic methods.
- Design robust file systems tailored for Flash-based storage in harsh environments, with considerations for RadHard components.
- Work closely with engineers from adjacent disciplines (mechanical, thermal, etc.) for a well-integrated hardware system.
- Provide software support for in-house C++ components and contribute to hardware design discussions.
- Assist in developing comprehensive verification test plans and procedures, emphasizing the reliability and integrity of both software and hardware components.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Linux Kernel development with a focus on real-time systems.
- Proficiency in Buildroot.
- In-depth understanding of secure boot techniques and hardware-based security modules.
- Expertise in volatile and non-volatile memory technologies.
- Experience with device trees and hardware abstraction layers.
- Comprehensive understanding of disk partitioning, file system tuning, and storage optimization.
- Strong scripting skills in bash and Python.
- Experience with RadHard components and specialized considerations for space environments.
- Proficiency in C++ in an embedded context.
- Familiarity with high-speed serial links like GbE, PCI-E.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting circuit design schematics.
- Experience collaborating closely with Electrical and FPGA Engineers, including a basic understanding of RF design and FPGA firmware compatibility.
