Job Title: Platform Engineer

SUMMARY
Support Kessel Run in providing platform engineering services in support of mission requirements as defined by Government to enable the Government platform team with the culture, practices, skillsets and tooling needed to deploy, operate, and scale highly reliable production systems, providing among other things expertise in the execution of TAS products.
The Platform Engineer shall have senior software engineering experience building and operating hybrid-infrastructure software platforms (Pivotal Cloud Foundry and AWS) at an Individual Contributor Level.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A successful candidate has prior experience deploying Cloud Foundry and automating platform management at enterprise scale.
The engineer shall have experience developing platform APIs that make common software operations scalable and repeatable.
The engineer will have experience building continuous delivery pipelines.
The engineer will feel comfortable maintaining the underlying services required to host containerized applications.
The engineer will have experience responding to software outages and executing post mortem reviews including root cause analyses.
The engineer will seek to maintain a high level of availability for all mission critical software systems.
The engineer will be a principle to master level engineer capable of mentoring junior developers and engineers, or a standard level engineer capable of problem ownership and rapid growth.
The engineer will also possess effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders internal and external to the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications
DoD IAT Level II Certification.
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree; or equivalent industry experience.
Five-plus (5+) years of experience leading teams building and developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Cloud Foundry, etc.
Five-plus (5+) years of experience building production services using Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Five-plus (5+) years of experience building and sustaining developer platform services and APIs that scale in production.
Three-plus (3+) years of experience designing or administering Identity and Access Lifecycle Management Operations and controls.
Three-plus (3+) years of experience building and maintaining continuous delivery pipelines.
Three-plus (3+) years of experience maintaining highly available and resilient production systems.
Resume demonstrates deep understanding of modern microservices architectures, design patterns, resiliency techniques, and optimizations.
Manage, report, and facilitate certification of access for all in-scope resources (including SaaS, AWS, Azure, CSS managed applications, tools, and systems).

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions
Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Strength Demands
Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
